Dreams can come true
This video has been burning up the web. I guess it means more to me because I am in that phase of life where I often feel that I haven't done anything, and now I'm too darned old to do anything with my life. The time of life when you start giving up on dreams because you were too busy doing other stuff, and now you feel that it is too late, or you don't look thin enough/young enough anymore. Watch the video and think about those things. I sure the heck am...

We need a laugh - The Yarn Harlot has obliged
I don't know about you, but I really need a laugh and a break from all the serious goings on in our poor country. Well, I ran across this on a blog I follow. The Yarn Harlot has struck again. She has a great blog (I've linked in in the title) and then I thought I would add this video. What a hoot. Enjoy.

Class - here is some assigned reading and viewing
I'll be posting in the next couple of days. In the meantime, here are some links for your perusing pleasure.
This is a link to a video I think is very interesting and well worth watching. Think about it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeYscnFpEyA
If you haven't read this ever, or since your school days, it is time to read it and understand it. As the founding document of our country, the Constitution of the United States should be read by every citizen - and understood. I think that the founding fathers said exactly what they meant. No gray areas, and not difficult to understand...
http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/charters/constitution.html
If you want to become involved, I recommend going here. This isn't about Republican or Democrat. It is about right or wrong. First educate yourself, then your neighbors, and then keep it going.

The Reason for Being
I didn’t want this blog to be about politics only. I still don’t. I really want it to be about whatever happens to be on my mind at the time. I’m sure there will be plenty of politics, just not all the time.
When I was young, I was fortunate enough to be raised in a village by a lake. As I grew up, whenever the tortuous prepubescent or teenage angst would hit, or if I just needed to think, I would walk down to the lake that was just a couple of miles from my childhood home, sit on the beach and think things out. This didn’t happen much in the winter as the village was in the mountains but in the spring and summer, I thought a lot. The advantage of doing this in a blog (when adult angst hits) is that I can be warm in the winter and cool in the summer ;-D.
This blog is to be a place to think out/through whatever is on my mind. Other than a few members of my family, no one knows about it yet. Eventually they will because a writer is what I want to be and I want many people to read my writing. I hope that what I write will be of some use to you. At any rate, this is all still evolving so who knows what it will grow up to be…
Now, I’ll get on with this entry’s topic.
The mess that our country (actually the whole world) is in has been weighing on me, as I imagine it is on you. I find myself getting easily frustrated. I can’t watch the news anymore because I end up screaming at the TV. Yes, for those of you who know me, I know that the people on it are unable hear me. Unfortunately, they aren’t hearing me when I scream in my emails, letters, and phone calls either. I have trouble sleeping at night and honestly, it makes me sad too, sometimes for a few days. It is easy to be overwhelmed by everything that is going on.
This leads me to wonder how you are handling it. I am on several email lists and many of the folks there seem to be feeling frustrated and scared. I don’t think that any of us want to live in fear or in anger. I am usually an optimist, and my natural tendency is to view the world that way. Surely, things will start turning around, right? I think that people in this country are very spoiled. I know I am. I like all my gadgets and creature comforts. I want my life to get back to normal. I want a job that pays me enough so I can payoff what debt I have, and pay my living expenses. We try not to be too excessive in our wants, although we do like to have internet, satellite TV, and cell phones. We don’t spend much on entertainment like movies, and such, so those are areas where we spend what entertainment dollars we do have. We don’t need a ton of money to be happy (ok, yeah, it would be NICE, but we don’t NEED it).
Do you think that the desire to get back to where we were will get us there? Nature abhors a vacuum – which may work for us in this case. What do you think? Will that play a factor in getting the country back on track or has everyone just fallen in the deep end of the pool with no life preserver and not figured it out yet?
The good news is that even during the Great Depression, 75% of the people were employed. Many of them did ok. Therefore, I think that I will try to be optimistic and believe that the future will be ok. I am still going to prepare for disaster, because, damn, you know things may not be OK. To paraphrase Glenn Beck, who I admire very much for his courage to take a stand when it surely costs him greatly, I pray that we can humble ourselves before God has to do it for us. We are making history now friends and I want to be on the front lines, not just stand idly by and let someone else do it. Let’s have a conversation!

I'm so mad I could spit!
I am so mad I could just SPIT!
So the idiots in Washington, once again, are selling out all of us for their own self interests.
I figure I have a right to complain about this. I voted when plenty of people who could have voted did not. I am directly affected by this disaster that the idiot politicians created in the financial system (hey - I just call it the way I see it after having THOUGHT IT THROUGH) by having been laid off from my employment (reduction in force due to no business).
What the HECK is with this "Stimulus" package. Better to pass NOTHING at all than this piece of garbage they have come up with. I have news for you Representatives and Senators - do NOTHING! You are ruining us! If you want to do something to grow jobs and the economy - cut taxes to the businesses. Give them tax credits for creating jobs. Forget about grass on the National Mall. Forget about the stupid little mouse in the Pelosi's district. And FORGET ABOUT THE START OF NATIONALIZED HEALTH CARE!!! HELLO - CAN YOU HEAR ME YET???
All you folks out there who think that socialized medicine is so great - go live in a country that provides it for a while. I hope you don't get sick. Clearly it works sometimes for some people. But much of the time, it does not. And if you are thinking that socialism is a great thing - well, I hope you enjoy it, because it is coming. Just remember, when you sell your soul (and your God given rights) to the devil, you are going to have to dance to his tune. Good luck. As for me, well, I am going to stick my fingers in my ears, turn my back, and sing "la la la la" running in the other direction.
I refuse to surrender my rights under the constitution (yes, I have read it - have you?) to any of the flakes in DC.
God help us all...
